<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 280:08, 280:10 AND 280:16 OF THE
<br />NEW BRIGHTON CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO WATER METERS
<br />
<br />The New Brighton City Council does ordain as follows:
<br />
<br />Section 1. Sections 280:08, 280:10 and 280:l6 of the 1966
<br />Code of Ordinances are hereby amended to read as follows:

<br />SECTION 280:08. WATER METERS. Except as hereinbefore
<br />provided and except for municipal purposes, no person shall use
<br />water from the water supply system of the city or permit water
<br />to be taken therefrom unless the same be metered by passing thro gh
<br />a water meter approved by the City. No person, except those
<br />authorized by the Superintendent, shall connect, disconnect,
<br />disassemble, or in any manner change, or cause to be changed, or
<br />interfere with any such meter or the working action thereof.

<br />On request of any customer and payment to the city Clerk of
<br />a fee of $5.00 the Superintendent will test such customer's
<br />water meter. Such fee may be waived if the meter is found to be
<br />defective, and the defect resulted from the action or negligence
<br />of the City.

<br />SECTION 280:10. INSTALLATION OF METERS. All water meters
<br />installed under the provisions of this code shall be the propert
<br />of the owner of the building where installed. The city shall se 1
<br />water meters to building owners at a price equal to the most
<br />recent cost of the meter type being purchased, plus an adminis-
<br />trative fee of ten (10) percent of the cost of the meter being
<br />purchased.
<br />
<br />All water meters owned by the City and installed on private I
<br />property prior to Januaryl,1975shall automatically become the
<br />property ,of the owner of the building where such meter is ,
<br />installed on January l, 1975 and all sums on deposit with the '
<br />City for such meters shall become the property of the City.
<br />
<br />No person, firm or corporation other than the City of New
<br />Brighton or its designee shall maintain, or repair any water
<br />meter within the City limits. Every water meter hereafter
<br />installed shall be sealed by or under the direction of the
<br />Superintendent and no person, firm or corporation shalT break
<br />or remove such seal. The Superintendent shall inspect the
<br />installation of the meter at the time it is sealed.
