PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS

CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON

 

 

Regular Meeting   04-15-03  7:30 p.m.

 

Present:          Commissioners  Larry Baker, Jim, O’Brien, Tom O’Keefe, Karen Mann, Norm Schiferl, and Paul Zisla

 

Absent:           Commissioner Jeff Schopf

·        Minute Approval -  January 21, 2003           

                                        March 18, 2003

 

·        Agenda Review –  Add under item 8, letter A, Old Hwy 8 & 5th Ave. NW signalization update.  

 

·        Council Action  -   City Council Member, Anne Hoffman reported

on the Family Service Center’s Eagle’s Nest, the new City code on

administrative offenses, Public Safety Department now conducting

employee background checks, asked staff to work with legislature on a 1 % sales tax for on and off liquor sales, City Services Task Force will be looking at every service, Mayor Steve Larson gave

State of the City address and Ms. Hoffman noted the Planning

Commission has been a large part of the accomplishments.   

           

 

Public Hearings:    There are no public hearings for this meeting.

General Business:  Preliminary discussion for building E. Main Street Village.

Mr. Gary Vogel gave a presentation of Building E, including the site plan and reviewing the slides.  He explained it will be a 14,400 square foot, single story building which will

be mainly service and retail and perhaps some office.  There will be a restaurant also.

This will formally come before the Planning Commission in May and would start in June if approved by the Planning Commission and City Council.   There were questions and

answers between Planning Commission members and Mr. Vogel.  The general consensus was positive for the plan. 

 

 

Announcements and Updates:    Mr. Boylan gave an update on the Old Hwy 8 & 5th Ave. NW signalization project plans.  He explained there would be some incidental

 

expenses to the City with the majority of the expense on Ramsey County.  The City is working with Ramsey County engineers on the project. 

 

They have indicated the project would be completed a year from now, but with the probability of the Main Street Village Residential facility will be leased out by the end of this year, the City would like to get it on the fast track.  In another announcement item, Mr. Boylan reported to Commissioners on various training opportunities by the Government Training Service.
