NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />JULY 6, 1988 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chairman Johnson <br />II. Members present: Eichers, Johnson, Kalina, Olson, Rose, Seward, <br />Van Hatten, Representative Brandt <br />Members absent: Carlson, Ocel <br />III. Minutes of June 1, 1988 <br />Councilmember Brandt asked that the last paragraph of the Council <br />report from the June minutes be corrected to read "she felt they <br />would not want it to be a park." <br />Johnson requested that his statement on page six be corrected to <br />read "Johnson questioned whether residents want Pike Lake to be a <br />private lake? <br />MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY VAN HATTEN, TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS <br />CORRECTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Council Representative Brandt reported that the Innsbruck <br />development proposal had been presented to the Council and that <br />while Council reaction was generally favorable there were <br />concerns expressed about density and traffic generation. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />No meeting. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Freedom Park Lighting <br />Anderson explained that the Council, based on staff <br />recommendation, had decided not to light the athletic field at <br />Freedom Park in 1988 because of the higher than expected cost <br />of grading the park for stormwater retention. <br />B. 1989-93 CIP <br />Anderson suggested including the athletic field lighting in <br />1989 at $65,000 and reducing the grading work at Innsbruck to <br />$10,000 of city funds. Johnson suggested that a footnote to <br />the CIP be added explaining that it was expected that Harstad <br />Companies would provide $50,000 worth of grading on the park. <br />Van Hatten asked why dedicated revenues were reduced in the <br />late years of the 5 year CIP? Anderson explained that it was <br />because city reserves are dedicated early in the schedule but <br />are not needed in later years. MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED <br />BY OLSON, TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE 1989-93 CIP WITH STAFF <br />RECOMMENDED CHANGES. MOTION CARRIED. <br />
