<br />: 'I <br />'I <br />'I <br />:1 <br /> <br />.,; <br /> <br />-,z <br /> <br />..- <br /> <br />'! <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 05-<l13 <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT FUNDING FOR NORTH METRO 1-35W CORRIDOR <br />PLANNING <br /> <br />WHEREAS: Communities in the North 1-35W Corridor area in Ramsey and <br />Anoka Counties have been working together to collaborate and coordinate public <br />and private investments in housing, economic development and transportation, <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: This cooperation has included the Metropolitan Council and the <br />Minnesota Department of Transportation, and, <br /> <br />! .:" . '\/"! <br /> <br />WHEREAS: Our communities are a'ctively engaged in significant development <br />and redevelopment programs that will have significant benefits to the Region as <br />well as our local economies, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: These developments , will provide job opportunities for residents of <br />the region, business opportunities for entrepreneurs, access to goods and <br />services for citizens and tax base for our communities, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: We recognize the importance of a healthy regional transportation <br />infrastructure that serves trade and tourism mobility and safety for <br />transcontinental travelers and businesses as well as travelers to and from the <br />Metropolitan region to other opportunities in Minnesota, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: We recognize the need to serve regional mobility at the same time <br />that we ensure that our citizens and businesses are provided safe and <br />convenient access to and from the regional system into local opportunity sites, <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: Current traffic flow conditions on North 1-35W are already congested <br />causing delays, accidents, air pollution and diminishing mobility, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: Forecasted growth in population and jobs within the Region and <br />within the Corridor will further severely congest and diminish the function and <br />safety of the regional system, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS: It is in the interests of the Region and State to mitigate the current <br />and anticipated problems at this juncture of two high priority Inter Regional <br />Corridors with the Metro Beltway, <br /> <br />I:\COllNCIL\REPORTS\2005\Conull, Dev\I-35W Resolution (Corridor Planning),doc <br /> <br />2 <br />
