<br />II <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />n <br />:1 <br />i <br />I <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />f <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION No. 03-047 <br />APPROVING THE PARTICIPATION IN THE 800 MHZ DIGITAL <br />COMMUNICATION SYSTEM <br /> <br />I WHEREAS, The City of New Brighton has been reviewing the needs of the radio <br />I communication system that provides emergency services to police, fire, and emergency <br />II medical agencies in its jurisdiction; and <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />I WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Radio Board, as a result of legislative changes, has the <br />i authority and resources to provide financial assistance to local units of government in the <br />)i metropolitan area that plan to participate in the region 800 MHz digital trunked communication <br />II system; and <br /> <br />I WHEREAS, Special legislative authority has been given to Minnesota counties to issue <br />bonds for the purpose of designing, constructing, and installing the infrastructure, facilities, and <br />equipment necessary to participate in the regional system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Federal funds have been appropriated and made available through the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety to supplement local and state funds for the purpose of <br />participating in the regional system, for which metropolitan area local governments are eligible; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City Council of The City of New Brighton has determined that its <br />participation in the regional system would improve its interoperability among its various <br />agencies and with other jurisdictions for purposes of mutual aid and emergency medical <br />services, thus improving public safety, as well as the entire region's ability to respond to <br />weapons of mass destruction incidents; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of New <br />Brighton intends to proceed with planning for development of an upgraded radio <br />communication system with the intention of participating in the regional system and that the <br />Metropolitan Radio Board be notified of The City of New Brighton's intention and request any <br />state or federal financial incentives that may be offered to local jurisdictions. <br /> <br />PASSED AND UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON THIS 8TH DAY OF JULY, 2003. <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />Steve Larson, Mayor <br /> <br />~.~ 2>01- <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />City Manager, <br /> <br />$t~y,c~-/ ~ - ~~<e'~16 <br /> <br />Dan Maiers, -Director of Finance and Support Services. <br /> <br />Matt Fulton, <br />
