L ~ -- - RESOI1JTION NO. 265 VILLAGE OF NEvI BRIGHTON COUNTY OF R1H1SEY STATE OF MIN~msOTA RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE EXECUTION OF AGREEHENT TO EXTEND THE Er,jpLOYME;NT OF HENR.Y BONA .AS VILLAGE EIvlPLOYEE BEYOND MANDATORY RETIREMENT JUJl!E BASED UPON CONTRll.CUAL AGREEMENT IN CONNECTION WITH THE PURCHASE UI!' MUNICIPAL LIQUOR DISPENSARY IN 1939. WHEREAS, in the year 1939 the Village of New Brighton purchased from Mr. Henry Bona a liquor business to use and operate as the New Brighton }fu.nicipal Liquor Dispensary, and in connection there'di th provided for Mr. Bona to be hired as the operator of such dispensary, and ~~EAS, in the discussions and negotiations leading up to such purchase it was agreed that Mr. Bona should have a job in said dispensary for life so long as he could perform his duties, and WHEREAS, the provision for a lifetime job as above stated was not in fact formalized in a written agreement, and \J"HERE1l.S, the New Brighton Village Personnel ordinance, adopted in 1965, provides for mandatory retirement of all village employees at the age of 65 years, and V~. Henry Bona reached the age of 65 years on March 6, 1966, and WHEREAS, A COMPRmlISE HAS Bj!;EN REACHED, as set forth in the attached agree- ment wherein the Village of New Brighton recognizes in some degree the past oral agreement and meets its moral obligation to :Mr. Bona, and ~~. Bona is assured a job for some time in addition to that which is permitted under said ordinances. NOW THEHEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village Mayor and Manager are hereby authorized and directed to ent:3r into and execute the attached agreement for and on behalf of the Fillage of New Brighton.
