VILLAGE OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A COLLEGE EDUCATION INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR <br />SU~ERVISORY EMPLOYEES OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND PRESCRIBING A <br />I ' " ... <br />., RE(:}ULATORY POLICY <br /> <br /> <br />, , WEtEREAS the Village Council re,cogriizes the growing complexitief? <br />ofithe Taw enforcement field, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS one approach to m~eting the challenges of the <br />complexities is through education and training, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS such education and training is of mutual benefit to <br />su~ervisory personnel within the Police Department and the <br />community <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the New Brighton Village <br />Cohncilthat a Police Department College Incentive Program for <br />supervisory personnel be adopted according to the following <br />re9'ulations: <br />. l, <br /> <br />1. In order to qualify for the program, earned college credit.s <br />m1,l.st be graded at "e" or better and must be certified to <br />and approved by theVillag,e Manager. <br /> <br />2. Tne program shall be based upon the quarter credit <br />- . <br />system as practiced at the University of Minnesota. <br /> <br />3. The College Incentive compensation, in addition to base <br />salary, shall be paid at the rate of 40 cents per <br />approved quarter credit perJ;l1onth', up to a maximum of <br />90 quarter credits ."Atwo-:-ye~r degree, consisting of <br />90 or more quarter credits shall be compensated, in <br />addition to base salary, at.the rate of $40 per month. <br />After 90 approved quarter credits, the college Incentive <br />compensation, in addition ,to'base salary, shall be paid <br />at the rate of 20 cents per approved quarter credit if <br />not directed toward a 4-year ,degree and 40 cents ,per <br />approved quarter credit if directed toward a 4-year degree'. <br />A 4-year degree, consistingof'l80 or more credits shall <br />be compensated, in addition to'base salary, at the rate <br />of $80 .
