<br />,~ .. ~ <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1509 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION STATING COUNCIL POSITION ON PROPOSED LEGISLATION <br />RELATING TO DISPOSABLE BEVERAGE CONTAINERS <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Legislature of the State of Minnesota is considering <br />legislation (HF 33, SF 15) relating to a mandatory deposit on <br />throwawar beverage containers, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City of New Brighton is concerned by the problems <br />which have attended the widespread production and use of throw- <br />away beverage containers in terms of solid waste and litter <br />generation, and natural resource and energy consumption, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the city of New Brighton has sought unsuccessfully to <br />alleviate these problems by local ordinance, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, however, the Council of the City of New Brighton <br />recognizes that such control should be on a state-wide basis in <br />order to be truly effective and not penalize businesses in those <br />certain forward-looking communities who have chosen to deal with <br />such problems <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />New Brighton, Minnesota, That the Legislators from Ramsey County <br />be encouraged to actively support HS 33 (SF15) or similiar <br />legislation which will effectively control the throwaway beverage <br />container on a state-wide basis <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk is hereby directed <br />to provide Senator Robert Ashbach and Representative Steven Novak <br />with a copy of this resolution. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Adopted this 25th day of February, 1975. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />,...... <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />.~). /J ;t. ,.;~,) ~ <br />../' . --~ <br /> <br />:iJ L~~ /4/'/'/{/f( ,e "", <br />_~~ e >>-l~ Thomas F.
