<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a regular meeting of the New <br />Brighton city Council was held Tuesday, June 9, 1981 at <br />7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, <br />New Brighton, Minnesota <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Councilmembers Bob Benke, Roger Blomquist, <br />Jeanette Janecek, Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Mayor James Senden <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />James W. Fornell, City Manager <br />Donald L. Lais, City Attorney <br />Vern Pederson, City Clerk <br />Joan Archer, City planner <br />Les Proper, Director of Public Works <br />Jim Winkels, Director of Community Development <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Roger Blomquist presided. <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to approve the minutes <br />of May 26, 1981 as presented. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The Acting Mayor with consent of the Council directed receipt <br />and filing of the Human Rights Commission minutes of May 4, 1981; <br />Park Board minutes of May 6, 1981; and Environmental Quality <br />Commission minutes of May 14, 1981 as presented. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to <br />appoint Roger Williams as Chairman of the <br />New Brighton Planning Commission and further <br />to direct staff to research the legal, technical, <br />organizational, and operational considerations <br />of consolidating the Planning Commission into <br />one advisory group, how transition to a single <br />commission effectively can be made and report back <br />to the city Council by July 28, 1981. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Planning Commission <br />Chairman Appointment <br /> <br />The Reverend Paul Olson and Reverend Luther <br />Olson, representing Christ the King Lutheran <br />Church, presented a donation on behalf of <br />the church to the City in appreciation of <br />fine services they have received.
