CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO 10-014 <br />I RELATING TO THE RICE CREEK WATERSHED DISTRICT LONG <br />LAKE WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br />:EAS, Long Lake located within the Rice Creek Watershed District is an important feature <br />the City of New Brighton; and <br />i, the City Council is committed to water quality improvements within Rice Creek <br />and its tributary lakes; and <br />iAS, the purpose of the project is to improve the water quality of Long Lake and improve <br />navigability of Rice Creek along a reach from the inlet to the railroad trestle; and <br />S, since the last channel maintenance in 2001, the channel and cove inlets have <br />d heavy sedimentation and rendered parts of this reach of the Rice Creek unsuitable for <br />with motorized boats. <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The City Council desires to complete those items <br />fended and hereby approves the attached petition to the Rice Creek Watershed District to: <br />• Prepare a feasibility study and order a project to dredge the channel and cove inlets <br />back to the original depth of 5 -feet to the limits shown in Exhibit B of the petition. <br />Install permanent bank channel stabilization along the southerly channel and cove <br />inlets to protect from long-term erosion. <br />IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council does request that the Rice Creek Watershed <br />rict participate in funding these activities with a cost share of 100 percent as defined in the <br />:hed petition. <br />TEST- <br />Maier's, , <br />of Finance -and Support <br />'City Clerk <br />Lz__Ize-s� <br />Dave Jac sen, Mayor <br />
