CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />WHEREAS Janice Gundlach joined the City New Brighton on January 12006; and <br />WHEREAS During the course of Janice's 12 years of service she has filled the roles of City Planner, <br />Planning Coordinator and more recently, Assistant Director of Community Assets and <br />Development/Planning Director. Recognized as a valuable member of the team, each of <br />Janice's promotions included an exponentially greater level of organizational responsibility and <br />impact to New Brighton as a community; and <br />WHEREAS Janice has had a sizeable and noteworthy level of impact on New Brighton's land development <br />through her handling of hundreds of land use applications, and participating in two <br />comprehensive plans (one complete redo in 2018). She has also taken on special assignments <br />that resulted in changing the City's ordinances. Examples of ordinances Janice worked on are <br />the sign code amendments, a chicken and foul ordinance, and a shore land ordinance; and <br />WHEREAS Janice has been directly involved in a number of exciting building projects including TUV <br />SUD, API, CSI, The View Apartments, Applewood Pointe, The Enclave development, <br />Homewood Suites, Beisswenger's, LA Fitness, Northeast Bank, Lakes Run Apartments, and <br />many others; and <br />WHEREAS Janice's work in New Brighton will have positive impacts in the community for years to come. <br />For example being selected as only one of two Ramsey County Cities that are part of Open to <br />Business, the purchase of the New Brighton Elementary site and the selection of the developer <br />team, the acquisition of grant dollars for water efficiency projects, and her role as incident <br />commander during New Brighton's "water condition yellow" response; and <br />WHEREAS Janice has been a beloved and respected Assistant Director, regarded as having an incredibly <br />witty and sarcastic sense of humor, a trusting leadership style that effortlessly motivates the <br />people who work for her, and a composed, honest clarity that has empowered and educated the <br />citizens of New Brighton; and <br />WHEREAS Janice's last day with the City of New Brighton will be on July 13th, 2018 where she will embark <br />on her new journey as she accepts the role of Director of Community Development in the City <br />of Inver Grove Heights, which is an incredible achievement and will award her many new <br />opportunities for growth. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED, in recognition of Janice's 12 years of service to the City of New Brighton, <br />members of the Community Assets & Development staff and all other City staff, we present this proclamation and <br />offer our sincerest conRralulatinrtr to: <br />1 NBRKArl' 7N <br />the city thal works for 3ou <br />Fanice Gimdlach <br />and extend our heartfelt thanks, and our <br />fondest wishes for her in her new endeavor. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, 1 have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused t e Seal of the City ew Brighton, Minnesota to be <br />affixed this 10th ay of July, 2018. <br />VALERIE JOHNSON— MAYOR <br />
