ProclamationCITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City of New Brighton has been recognized by the National Arbor Day <br />Foundation as a Tree City USA for 38 consecutive years; and <br />WHEREAS trees and forests improve our physical health by cleaning the air, reducing <br />exposure to the sun’s UV rays, and decreasing temperatures during the <br />summertime; and <br />WHEREAS trees and forests improve our mental health by reducing stress and increasing <br />concentration; and <br />WHEREAS forests create high-quality drinking water by acting as a natural filter; and <br />WHEREAS getting a daily dose of trees is healthy for all Minnesotans; and <br />WHEREAS trees in our City beautify our surroundings, shade our parks and residences, <br />increase property values and enhance the economic vitality of business areas, and <br />WHEREAS each year, throughout the month of May, Minnesotans pay special tribute to rural <br />and community trees and all the natural resources, and dedicate themselves to the <br />continued vitality of our State’s forests, and <br />WHEREAS the City of New Brighton will plant trees on May 20 at Hansen Park to help <br />beautify the park. <br />NOW, THEREFORE I, VALERIE JOHNSON, Mayor of The City of New Brighton, Minnesota <br />do hereby proclaim May 20, 2020 as Arbor Day in the City of New Brighton. <br />BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the month of May be “Arbor Month” and that public- <br />spirited and foresighted citizens be called upon to plant trees now for the enjoyment and use of <br />future generations. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of New Brighton, <br />Minnesota to be affixed this 12th day of May, 2020. <br />VALERIE JOHNSON – MAYOR
