<br />, ". <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 88-31 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DISAPPROVING <br />APPLICATION BY CATHOLIC <br />ELDERCARE, INC. FOR <br />GAMBLING LICENSE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton has received notice of an application <br /> <br />for a charitable gambling license from Catholic Eldercare, Inc., a Minnesota <br /> <br />nonprofit corporation, of 817 Main Street Northeast, Minneapolis, Minnesota <br /> <br />(the "Applicant") for charitable gambling operations at the Main Event Sports <br /> <br />Bar and Grill at 790 West County Road D in the City of New Brighton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, annual charitable gambling licenses heretofore approved by the <br /> <br />City Council have heen for organizations operating principally in the City of <br /> <br />New Brighton which have as their purpose charitable activities in and for the <br /> <br />benefit of the citizens of the City of New Brighton, which organizations have <br /> <br />and continue to expend the proceeds of such charitable gambling for such <br /> <br />charitable purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it appears that the proceeds of charitable gambling conducted by <br /> <br />the Applicant will not be spent in or for the benefit of the citizens of the <br /> <br />City of New Brighton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council has concluded that it is in the best interest of the <br /> <br />publiC and of the citizens of New Brighton that gambling licenses approved by <br /> <br />the Council be for lawful purposes (as defined by Minnesota Statutes, Section <br /> <br />349.12, Subd. 11), which more directly benefit the citizens of the City; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Council of the City of New <br /> <br />Brighton as follows: <br /> <br />1. The charitable gambling license of Catholic Eldercare, Inc. is hereby <br />disapproved. <br />
