<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, February 23, 1999, <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Old Highway 8 NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Hoffman, Larson, and Samuelson. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Charles LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Kevin Locke, Conununity Development Director <br />Cary Teague, City Planner <br /> <br />Council Afjenda <br /> <br />Recognition of Elizabeth Dahle, Mrs. New Brighton International, was deferred. <br />Presentation of Honorary Ambassador plaque to Ted Wolkerstorfer was added to the <br />Special Order of Business agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE AMENDED <br />COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Hoffman, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE FEBRUARY 9, 1999, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Economic Development <br />Commission ~ January 12, 1999; and Planning Commission - January 19, 1999. Benke <br />noted a language correction within the EDC minutes referring to Tank-n- Tummy. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Benke presented retiring Public Works Superintendent Ted Wolkerstorfer with an <br />Honorary Ambassador plaque to recognize his 32 years of quality service to the residents <br />and community. Wolkerstorfer thanked Council and staff for this recognition. <br /> <br />City Manager Matthew Fulton said the City has retained Decision Resources to perform a <br />Community Satisfaction Survey and the results will be presented tonight. It was noted <br />that the last community survey was performed in 1988. <br /> <br />Bill Morris, Decision Resources, said 401 residents were surveyed with the average <br />interview being 32 minutes. Location within the Metro Area was the most liked feature <br />identified by respondents followed by strong neighborhoods and excellent schools.
