<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at <br />7:30 p,m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW, <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Hoffman, Larson, and Samuelson, <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation Director <br />Jill Bishop, Economic Development Specialist <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />Erny Mattila, Senior Planner <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br />Cary Teague, City Planner <br /> <br />Council A~enda <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Larson, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried, <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE APRIL 14, 1998, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Economic Development <br />Commission - March 10, 1998; and Planning Commission - March 17, 1998, <br /> <br />S.pecial Order of Business <br /> <br />Benke explained that 11 applications were received for appointment to the <br />Councilmember seat left vacant by the death of George Gregori. Council independently <br />reviewed the applications, and met to determine a finalist list on April 21. The two <br />finalists, Ann Hoffman and Dennis Flahave, were interviewed on April 23, Both <br />candidates were well qualified and would bring many positive attributes to the Council. It <br />was the conclusion that Council appoint Ann Hoffman to fill the vacant Councilmember <br />seat until the 1999 General Election. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Gunderman, to APPOINT ANN HOFFMAN TO THE <br />VACANCY ON THE NEW BRIGHTON CITY COUNCIL. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried, <br /> <br />City Manager Matthew Fulton administered the oath of office to newly appointed <br />Councilmember Ann Hoffman. <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Special Order of <br />Business <br /> <br />Appointment of AM <br />Hoffman to Council <br />
