<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br />December 15, 1992 at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Council members Gunderman, Larson, Rebe1ein and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />David Childs, City Manager <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Larson, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes - None <br /> <br />Commission Minutes - None <br /> <br />Special Order of Business - None <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Rebelein, seconded by Larson, to APPROVE mE CONSENT <br />AGENDA ITEMS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />CONSOLIDATED VOUCHERS: 051991-052150 FOR A GRAND <br />TOTAL OF $328,139.80. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Public Hearin!:s <br /> <br />City Manager David Childs noted a letter had been received from a Mr. <br />Robert Jacobson with questions on the budget. This was the only letter <br />received by the city on the 1993 budget. He then presented an overview of <br />the budget process. <br /> <br />The notice mailed earlier to the property owners indicated a proposed <br />increase in property taxes of 4.9 % . <br /> <br />The Truth in Taxation Hearing, being held at this time, was established by <br />the legislature approximately two year ago. The purpose is to provide a <br />means by which the citizens can become involved in the adOPtion of the <br />budget and setting of the levy for the forthcoming year. All property <br />owners in the City were notified of this Hearing. The notice included the <br />date of the hearing and outlines the impact of any changes in taxes. A <br />notice must also appear in the legal newspaper. This same notice is <br />required to be forwarded by the school district and the county showing <br />their proposed increases.
