<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was <br />held Tuesday, March 22, 1988, at 7:30 p.m. 4n the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue <br />NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Councilmembers Brandt, Gunderman, Larson, and Williams <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Henry Sinda, City Manager <br />Kevin Locke, Community Develo~ment Director <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br />John Kelley, Police Chief <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation Director <br />Gary Berger, Administrative Assistant <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br /> <br />As Mayor Benke is in Washington, D. C. this evening, Councilmember <br />Williams explained he would be Acting Mayor for this meeting. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Brandt, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MARCH 8, 198B, COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Re-Orderinq of Agenda <br /> <br />Williams stated, because there were so many rosidents present for <br />Item VIII-2 of the agenda, the item for undergrounding powerlines <br />on Long Lake Road would be discussed prior to the Public Hearing. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Williams, with council consent, received the Citizen <br />Study Committee minutes of January 27, 1988 and February 10, 1988; <br />and Human Rights Commission minutes of Februal"y 1, 1988. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Chet Glisan of the New Brighton Lions Club introduced Lion Presi- <br />dent Gary Rubey; Rubey read the names of Charter Members of the <br />Lions Club, then presented: Anderson with a $15,700 donation for <br />the balance of equipment and materials for Veterans Park; a token <br />of appreciation to Roger Frank, Chair of the State Gambling Board; <br />and to Acting Mayor Williams. <br /> <br />Virginia Behrens donated $1,000 for Veterans Park, in memory of <br />Herman Behrens. <br /> <br />Ken Johnson, Park Board Chair, thanked the Lions and Mrs. Behrens <br />for their donations. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Re-Oy'der Agenda <br /> <br />Comm i ss 'j on r~ i nutes <br /> <br />Spec~al Order <br />of BUsin\~ss <br /> <br />Donations: <br />L ions Club <br /> <br />Virginia Behrens <br />
