Council Member Dof f inq introduced the following resolution, the <br />reading of which was dispensed with by unanimous consent and moved its adoption. <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO. o~--oi~ <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPROVAL OF SPECIAL LEGISLATION BY THE <br />MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ("Council") of the City of New Brighton, <br />Minri~sota ("City"} as follows: <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature ("Legislature") has previously approved <br />special legislation providing for flexibility in the use of tax increment in an area within the <br />City designated as the Northwest Quadrant; and <br />WHEREAS, the costs of remediating the extensive contamination located within <br />the Northwest Quadrant exceed the revenues available from tax increment, Ramsey <br />Counv'ty ("County") loan programs, the Metropolitan Council and the State of Minnesota <br />("Stake") programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has previously created Tax Increment Financing District Na. <br />26 vtiilhich will generate revenues in excess of its required expenses; and <br />WHEREAS, the State through its levy of the property in the NW Quad will receive <br />millions in property taxes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City, County, region and State will all benefit from the <br />remediation and the redevelopment, and the grant being requested will make the benefit <br />passible. <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Cauncil of the City requests the Legislature to approve <br />the special legislation attached as Exhibits A and B. <br />Adopted by the Council of the City this 27th day of FehrL~~ , 2Q07 <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Council Member Bi~ra and upon vote being taken thereon the <br />fallowing voted in favor thereof: <br />
