d <br />. <br />PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />APRIL 5, 1978 <br />I. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gunderman at <br />8:00 p.m. <br />II. Members present: Carlson, Cook, Dahl, Grimshaw, Gunderman,. <br />Johnson, Kern, Olson. Absent: Z~lestling <br />III. Minutes of March 1, 1978 meeting were approved as submitted, <br />N . Correspondence <br />Arbor Day Observance - Motion by Dahl, seconded by Kern that <br />information be sent to the New Brighton Bulletin depicting <br />the Park Board°s role in reforestation efforts and that <br />local organization be contacted and requested to assist in <br />this venture. <br />V. Unfinished Business <br />A. Park Use Ordinance <br />Motion by Carlson, seconded by Kern to recommend adoption <br />of the ordinance and refer to city attorney for final <br />draft. Motion carried. <br />B. Long Lake Surface Use Ordinance-Recommendations Included <br />1, No wake in channel. <br />2. Establish a direction of travel for power boats. <br />3. Establish a distance of operation from shore for <br />power boats, e.g. 75-100 feet. <br />~-. Do not attempt speed limits. <br />5 . Do not us e zones due to conf igura ~ ion of lake . <br />6. Needs of different seasons must be addressed. <br />7. Access to lake and park should be by parking permit. <br />8. Time zoning should be established. <br />9. Establish controls for motor vehic~es on ice during <br />winter season. <br />10. Boats should be beached only at launch area. <br />11. Canoes and other small craft should be kept within <br />75 - 100 fee t of shore . <br />C. Long Lake Boat Access Design - Recommendations Included <br />1. Control number of users by parking restrictions. <br />2. A maximum of three power boats sY~ould be allowed <br />on lake at one time. <br />3. A high quality launch and parking area should be <br />constructed. <br />
