t <br />PAR~~ BOARD MINUTES <br />JANUAR`.I ~ l ? 978 <br />I• The meeting was called to order at 800 P.M. by Chair- <br />person C underman. <br />II. A,1~- members present.. <br />III. Minutes were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence from Messiah Lutheran Church. The Board <br />acknow~edged their concern and suggested that Wednesday <br />ni~:ht programming be avoided when possible. <br />V. Unfinished Business -None <br />VI New Business <br />Snowmobiling Sunny Square - Westling expressed concern <br />ovcr snowmobiling i_n and around the park. Carlson <br />suggested that throvah his involvement with the snow- <br />mobile patrol he might be able to help solve the problem. <br />Development Contro~_s - :~oLlg Laka Area - Staff reviewed a <br />proposal by the planning com~riission to regulate develop- <br />!~.a:~, near the future park. Barry Johnson, Director of <br />Community Development nor the City, will review the pro- <br />posa:~ in depth at the I'ebiuary meeting. <br />Election of Officers - Motion by Kern, seconded by Cook <br />that Arlyn Gunderman be elected Chairperson with E17_en Dahl <br />to serve as Chairperson in his absence - motion carried.. <br />Silver Oak ti,?allw Path - Staff reviewed efforts of the past <br />year to bui~.d a walk path from 20th Avenue SW to Silver <br />Oak School/Park and indicated that it appeared likely <br />that land condemnation would be necessary to acquire a <br />wa~.k path easement. The Board suggested that they <br />supported a sidewalk on Oakwood c.u a partial solution <br />to tt~e problem of access to the area. <br />Park Use Ordinance - The Board reviewed the Ramsey County <br />Park Use Ordinance ar~d ?aill consid?r the adapted version <br />at its February meei;ing. <br />Totem Pole Meeting Date - The Board decided to set <br />February lst, 8•~0 p.m. to meet with residents from the <br />Totem Pole Park area to discuGs ~+ark renovation. <br />Free Skating - Hansen Park - Dahl relayed concerns on <br />the size and condition of the free skating area at Hansen <br />Park. Staff explained t'nat expansion and/or relocation <br />had been delayed by the Diteh #2 project but suggested that <br />some interim enlargement of the present area rriight; be <br />possible but that relocation would likely have to be a <br />capital improvement project. <br />
