Tour <br />2 Water Resources <br />3 Bond Issue <br />~j Lighting <br />Discussion of Froposed Development - Vermont Park Site <br />The Board reviewed for the residents in attendance the proposal for <br />development of the Vermont Park area. Development includes permanent, <br />year-round shelter, general skating area, play apparatus, court game <br />area, spray pool, ball field and parking area. It was explained that <br />because of the traffic volume.-on Cleveland Avenue, the intention was to <br />fence the park along the entire Cleveland Avenue side, as well as the <br />lst Street S.E, side and behind the adjoining property owner on the <br />lst Avenue S.E, side. Mr. and Mrs. Kern and Mrs. Erickson indicated <br />that they felt that the proposal was very good and were happy to see <br />something planned for the property. Mr. Daniels asked what provisions <br />would be made for adult and senior citizen residents on the park area. <br />It was explained this was primarily a youth park, but that adults would <br />use the ball field, court game and skating areas. The possibility of <br />horseshoe courts was also discussed. Daniels asked why parking was <br />necessary if this was intended to be a walk-to park. It was noted that <br />at-some point people would be driving to the park and if parking were <br />not available, they would park on the street or on the park area itself. <br />The lot provided is quite small and should not detract from the park <br />as a whole. Daniels also noted that the ball field seemed to take up <br />a great area and wondered if that was desirable. It was explained that <br />the mall field was intended for unorganized activities and that itr Tninll <br />be developed to such an extent that it would preclude other uses of the <br />area. The time schedule and proposed financing-of the project was <br />reviewed and it was explained that these were projections and that <br />priorities could change or funds available could decrease in the next <br />two years, so that at .the present time, this project could only be <br />
