• • <br />PARK BOARD MEETING <br />Special Meeting <br />February 12, 1970 <br />The meeting was called to order a~ 8 P.M. <br />Vice Chairman, Hansen chaired the meeting <br />Present: Barnhill, Dahl, Hansen, Gunderman, Sherlock <br />Council Representative Moen. <br />Absent: Hagemeyer, Weissman. <br />Resignation, Mr. Tom Morris <br />Chairman Hansen informed the Board that Mr. Tom Morris had resigned <br />from the Park Board. <br />Introduction, Mr. Charles Sherlock <br />Chairman Hansen introduced Mr. Charles Sherlock, 2300 Sioux Blvd, as the <br />new member of the Park Board appointed to fill the vacancy as a result of <br />Mr. Morris' resignation. <br />Final Plans and Specifications - 7th Street Park Site <br />Mr. Charles Hefty and Mr. Don Brauer, Brauer and Associates were present <br />to explain the final plans and specifications for the 7th Street Park site. <br />Questions arose as to the order of priority regarding park facilities. <br />The question posed "Should the tennis courts be set back in order of <br />priority and the shelter for this site moved forward on the schedule?" <br />No official Board action was taken, the Board will continue to consider <br />this matter. <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Dahl that sanitary sewer be included as <br />an alternate in the plans and specifications. <br />Carried <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Barnhill to recommend that the Council <br />approve final plans and specifications for the 7th Street Park site-- <br />site development and paving--and call for bids. <br />Carried <br />Crossing of Rice Creek at Mississippi <br />Mr. Ronald G. Nelson and Mr. McCullum, Mr. Novak, Mr. Ne:ibold, residents <br />of the Rice Creek area appeared to discuss with the Board the various <br />proposals for crossing of Rice Creek at Mississippi. <br />The chairman related three reasons for the Board action in recommending <br />Plan "A" at its last meeting. They are: (1) Plan "A" is more economical <br />(2) involves very little channel change, (3) most of the realignment <br />occurs on park property and this realignment has insignificant affect upon <br />the land use concept for the Rice Creek Park site. <br />
