~ ! .- ~ • • <br />" PARK BOARD MEETING <br />August 13, 1969 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m. <br />Present: Gunderman, Morris Weissman <br />Absent: Hansen, Hagemeyer <br />Also Present: Schaefer; Charles Hefty, Brauer and Associates. <br />Acctuisition of Lands in Lonq Lake <br />Motion by Morris, seconded by Weissman to acknowledge by endorsement. <br />the Council action of August 12 a resolution authorizing the acquisition <br />of certain lands by negotiation or condemnation in Long Lake. <br />Carried <br />Dead Trees, Rice Creek Park Site <br />A discussion was held on the problem of the dead trees in the Rice <br />Creek Park site area. Board members were informed that the Park <br />Department is aware of the problem and, hopefully, intends to do some <br />work on the removal of the dead trees with the cooperation of the <br />developer working in that area. <br />Telephone Service to Shelters <br />Mation by Weissman, seconded by Morris that phones be installed in the <br />park shelters at a cost. of $425.00 for all three buildings. ` <br />Carried <br />Full Time Park and Recreation Director <br />Motion by Morris, seconded by Weissman to recommend that the 1970 <br />village budget provide for the position of full time park and <br />recreation director. Carried <br />Preliminary Plan to Show Ball Field at Veterans Park <br />Mr. Charles Hefty,. Brauer and Associates, presented three drawings of <br />the Legion Field Park in accord with the request of the Park Board <br />to present plans showing the possible arrangement of a ball field <br />in Legion Park having foul line distances of 350 feet. Discussion <br />was held on the present and projected diamond requirements. <br />Members of the Fire Department appeared to express volunteer fire <br />department interest in the improvement of the Veterans Park with <br />particular concern about preserving the size and character of the <br />present ball field. <br />Motion by Morris, seconded by Weissman that the plans dated 7-16-69, <br />Brauer and Associates, of Legion Field be filed. Carried <br />Motion by Morris, seconded by Weissman that the park planner, Bratuer <br />and Associates provide plan calling for the upgrading of the baseball <br />diamond at Pike-Lake Park site. Carried <br />Motion. by Weissman, seconded by Morris that Brauer and Associates be <br />requested to prepare a sketch plan of Veterans Park (Legion Field) with <br />particular emphasis on dimensions for softball diamond layout. <br />Carried. <br />
