PARK BOARD MEETING
Meeting of January 30, 1968
PRE5ENT: Gunderman, Norris, Hansen, Weissman, Don Brauer and Chuck Hefty of
Brauer & Associates, and Claudia Ja-gensen of the League ofi Warren
Voters, D.L. Moan, Council representative.
D i,~cuss i ON t7F BI LL(y~N_ OFFER
The Park Board discussed Billtaan proposal. Expressions were made to the effect
that based on the recent turn of developments; namely the petition to rezone
the 30t acres at the corner of County Road D and 8 tR-41), that the Council may
find it advisable fio reconsider fibs Biilman proposai. No advisory action was
taken by the Board.
~RF~ 1 a~i NARY PLAN 7 STf~~ET S I
Planner brought forth an alternate in the northern imaginative play area as to
whether or not the area should be an island or a peninsula.
Question arose as to whether this should be a garden area instead of a play area.
Mr. John foley, New Brighton Garden Club, presented a plan based on the original
area indicated for the garden area. Mr. Foley stated his preference for the
original area. Basis of his argument was scenic attraction based on the traffic
flow and also viewing from the administration building.
Area between parking areas between eastern lots would be retained for the garden
area.
Regarding the soil for the garden area, a clay base with about a foot of top
soil would be desirable. Water could probably be extended to be available for the
garden area.
Motion by Morris, seconded by Weissman, to recommend appointment of Richard
Hansen to RCLM Park and Recreation Committee.
Next regular meeting is February 14, 1968, at 8:00 P.M.
Meeting adjourned 10:05 F.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert W. Schaefer
