<br />" <br /> <br />"'-' <br /> <br />'" <br />;- <br />., <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO 2635 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO APPLY FOR FUNDS FROM U.S. DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT UNDER THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS. the City of New Brighton is the responsible govern <br />mental body to provide a contaminate free water supply to its <br />citizenry; <br /> <br />WHEREAS. the Minnesota Department of Health has required <br />the City to develop remedial action to address the water <br />contamination problem; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton does not have sufficient <br />available local financial resources to construct the deep wells <br />and other Federal or State resources are unavailable to <br />alleviate the water contamination situation; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the construction of the two proposed wells will <br />greatly alleviate the City's dependency on existing contaminated <br />wells and in addition to the use of well #7 and reconstructed <br />wells #8 and #9 provide a contaminate-free water supply to New <br />Brighton residents; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Capital Improvement fund has a projected use- <br />able December 31. 1982 fund balance of only $245.000.00 and <br />the engineering estimates of the construction of two wells <br />exclusive of engineering, fiscal, legal and administrative costs <br />is estimated at $2.6 million. <br /> <br />WHEREAS. the U,S. Department of Housing and Urban Develop- <br />ment under the Community Development Block Grant Small Cities <br />Program has funds available for such purposes under "Imminent <br />Threat". <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of New Brighton that it is City Council's intent to pursue <br />funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Develop- <br />ment under the Community Development Block Grant Program for <br />the amount of $600.000.00 for the construction of the two <br />proposed wells and that the City commits payment of the <br />remaining costs for said construction from the Capital Improve- <br />ment Fund and the sale of general obligation bonds, <br /> <br />Adopted this 12thday of <br /> <br />October <br /> <br />1982. <br /> <br /> <br />~---,...........-........ <br /> <br /> <br />~.. .Jc-->~ <br />s W.
