<br />! . <br /> <br />i: <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 698 <br />State of Minnesota <br />County of Ramsey <br />City of New Brighton <br /> <br />An interim Ordinance relating to temporary signs on Silver Lake Road; amending New <br />~tighton City Code Section 9-140. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of New Brighton Ordains as follows: <br /> <br />I :, BACKGROUND <br /> <br />1.1 <br /> <br />Silver Lake Road in the City of New Brighton is currently under construction in two <br />phases from Interstate 694 to County Road H. <br />Phase I reconstruction shall be the area between Interstate 694 and 15th Street NW <br />I <br />Phase II reconstruction shall be the area between 15th Street NW and County Road <br />H. <br />Businesses located adjacent to Silver Lake Road are experiencing a disruption of <br />business activities due to the road reconstruction project. <br /> <br />The impact on business activities can be mitigated by authorizing the erecting and <br />maintaining of temporary signs during the construction period, without significant <br />impact on the surrounding neighborhood. <br />The "reconstruction period" coincides with construction activity that reduces the <br />amount of traffic on Silver Lake Road NW. <br /> <br />1.2 <br />1.3 <br /> <br />1.4 <br /> <br />1.5 <br /> <br />1.6 <br /> <br />It. TEMPORARY SIGNS <br /> <br />: 2.1 For Phase I, businesses located within the area described in Section 1.2 adjacent to <br />Silver Lake Road shall be allowed one temporary sign until July 15, 2002, or until the <br />Completion of Phase I, whichever is later. <br /> <br />2.2 For Phase II, businesses located within the area described in Section 1.3 adjacent to <br />Silver Lake Road shall be allowed one temporary sign from July 15, 2002 until the end <br />of the reconstruction period. <br /> <br />2.3 The start and end of the "reconstruction period" shall be determined by the Director of <br />Public Works. <br /> <br />2.4 The approval of a temporary sign during the reconstruction period shall not count in <br />the total of temporary signs for the year as allowed by the Code. <br /> <br />IU. EFFECTIVE DATE, EXPIRATION <br /> <br />3.1 The end of Phase I construction shall be determined by the Director of Public Works. <br />All temporary signs within the Phase I zone shall adhere to the regular requirements <br />of the zoning code. <br /> <br />3.2 Phase II construction shall commence July 15th and the end shall be determined by <br />the Director of Public Works.
