'I4,t" <br />'" <br /> <br />''';''--' -^" <br />.; <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO 2335 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />CO U NT Y 0 F R A ~1 S E Y <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING STREET LIGHT POLICIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Each year the City of New Brighton receives <br />severAl requests for the installation of street lights, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The cost of operating street lights is a <br />large budget item, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of New Brighton <br />desires to maintain and enhance the safety and security of <br />the City through the provision of street lighting while <br />at the same time keep the tax burden of operating street <br />lights at a minimum. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of <br />the City of New Brighton that the following policies shall <br />govern the installation of street lights. <br /> <br />1. All City street light installations must be <br />approved by City Council resolution. <br />2. It shall be the policy of the City to install <br />street lights at the following locations. <br />A. At all street intersections; <br />B. On all cul-de-sacs in excess of 300 feet <br />in length; <br />C. A minimum spacing of 660 feet along all <br />skeletal system sidewalks, bikeways, <br />designated bike lanes, and bike routes; and <br />D. Where unusual safety hazards exist which can <br />be eliminated by a street light. <br />3. The City Council shall consider installing street <br />lights on cul-de-sacs shorter than 300 feet and <br />at mid-block locations when petitioned for by <br />property owners. The petition should include <br />all properties facing or bordering the requested <br />street light. Under normal conditions short <br />cul-de-sacs and mid-block lights will not be <br />approved where the resulting spacing would be out <br />of character with other areas of the City. <br />4. The City shall discourage the use of post-top <br />ornamental lights for City street lights. The <br />post-top lights are lower in elevation and <br />located over the boulevards resulting in poorly <br />_----~~, directed light and high vandalism. <br />_H~- _.5.
