MAY 3, 1989 PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />3 <br />• Olson suggested having an organized "walk" to get people <br />aware of the park and the trail system. <br />Gunderman commented that there are so many. things to do once <br />the trail system was .complete. <br />Rose commented that the Coon. Rapids Dam had a lot of trails. <br />Johnson suggested taking a hard look at the CIP - maybe <br />something in there could be deferred. <br />Eichers thought it would be best to have Margaret Egan, <br />Finance Director, check the books. She maybe able to come <br />up with some money somewhere. .There should be some interest <br />money from the water settlement. <br />~, <br />Van Hatten clarified that the motion was to send the <br />recommendation to staff not the council. <br />Anderson said that was. correct. The ultimate recommendation <br />from the Park Board to the council will be stronger if you <br />know the exact details. <br />MOTION CARRIED. <br />• Gunderman mentioned that the city attorney has changed law <br />firms and the city is deciding whether to stay with him and <br />change to his new firm or to stay with the current firm. <br />Gunderman said the city is reviewing the policy of sick leave <br />due to the decision made to allow Dave Broullet to be given <br />sick leave by other city employees. Gunderman commented he <br />would like to review the sick leave policy of any other. <br />private firm. <br />Gunderman said this is a difficult situation. We want to <br />help the employee but at the same time are concerned about <br />any precedent that may be started. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Carlson stated they did not meet. <br />C. Community Center Task Force <br />Olson commented that the community center in Roseville was <br />defeated. <br />Johnson said that timing is real important. Eden Prairie had <br />done a good job of planning theirs-but then the property <br />. taxes went out right before the referendum. It is important <br />to keep residents informed all along the way. <br />
