October 4, 1989 Park Board Minutes
9
Carlson also stated it would be interesting to hear the
results of the monitoring of the boat launch this summer.
The Sheriff's Dept. could also be contacted to see how many
citations were issued..
Anderson said some complaints were about the weekend hours
for waterskiing on the lake. Another concern was the jet
skis.
Carlson said he too, as a water patrol, received many
complaints about the jet skis.
Johnson asked how the jet skis could be handled.
Carlson said we need to be careful of using the term "jet
ski" because it is a brand name.
Kalina asked about the time line for the ordinance changes.
Anderson stated the Park Board should have completed their
process January 1, 1990 so the entire process can be
completed by April 1, 1990.
Kalina said it would have been good to survey the users.
Van Hatten said if there is a public hearing, you will get
feedback.
Carlson said it seems to make sense to do a hearing jointly
with the Long Lake Advisory Committee; it should save time.
C. Park Construction Update; Freedom, Hidden Oaks., Silver Oak,
Totem Pole and Veterans
Anderson said Freedom irrigation system is in. Lights will
be installed the first part of November. Bids for the
lighting came in under budget. Freedom will fenced with a
removeable fence so the area can be used for football too.
The Pike Lake Trail construction will be starting. The
trail is starting from the parking lot. It will be paved
and landscaped.
Hidden Oaks has been regraded and the hockey rink relocated
east to west. New trees will be put in. New lights are
also going in. The pleasure rink at Hidden Oaks will be
increased in size.
A hard court area and basketball backboard are being
installed at Silver Oak.
Play equipment at Totem Pole is being doubled. The gazebo
has just been finished - it is similar to Veteran's gazebo.
