October 4, 1989 Park Board Minutes. 8
B. Long Lake Survace Use Ordinance
Anderson said he would like to see the Park Board consider
how to work through the process of making some changes to
the ordinance. Residents were promised that we would review
the ordinance and make changes by next spring. It is a
lengthy process and it will need public input from
individuals and organizations like the Sportmens Club and
Long Lake Homeowners Association. Would like to know how
the Park Board would like to interact with the Long Lake
Advisory Committee.
Van Hatten asked if they are still meeting.
Anderson said they haven't met for awhile but they will be
involved in this process.
Johnson stated they have met the third Wednesday of the
month and their charge is to meet four times a year.
Van Hatten asked what the users want changed.
Carlson asked what kind of complaints have been coming in -
are they from lake shore owners or others.
Andererson said they have not been from lake shore owners.
Kalina asked about the number of planes using the lake.
Anderson said there is only one.
Anderson said he received a call from a man who had been a
staunch opponent of the park and asked if the city would co-
sponsor, with his group, a meeting regarding the milfoil
problem. Anderson told him we would be happy to do it. The
gentlemen stated that he was very plased with what is
happening in the park and also with the boat launch.
Johnson said it would be a good idea to survey groups such
as the Sportmens Club and the Homeowners Assn. and also
individuals (boaters, etc.)
Van Hatten said that was a good thought.
Anderson said there was a law suit with the City of Maple
Grove regarding the monitoring of the number of boats on the
lake. The outcome of the lawsuit may have a big affect on
the Long Lake Surface Use Ordinance.
Anderson asked if input from individuals on the lake should
be sought or if input should be obtained from the Long Lake
Homeowners Association.
Carlson felt individual input would be better. The
association may not represent everyone.
