AUGUST 2, 1989 PARK BOARD MINUTES 8 Johnson felt the Park Board should take the park issue and the park dedication issue as separate items and vote on each individually. Anderson said he would like to see us haven acres of land and the rest money. A dollar amount does not need to be put in because it will be calculated for us. Johnson asked how it is figured. Anderson said the money is based on the value of the unimproved land. It would be about $90,000. Ocel said he is only giving up about two lots dollar wise. Anderson said if we have the land - it will remain open. No intense development will take place. This plan is not the final drawing. Another plan will come back to the Park Board. Seward said he wants to .approve the motion but not condone the developer. Anderson said you don't have to. It can be worded that if the development occurs this is what we would like to see. Seward stated that he does not support the drawing as shown. Anderson said we need to let him know what we want. MOTION BY ROSE, SECONDED BY OCEL, TO RECOMMEND TO THE COUNCIL THAT IF THIS DEVELOPMENT IS APPROVED THAT TWO ACRES ADJACENT TO THE SOUTH BORDER OF DRIFTWOOD PARK BE DEDICATED TO PARK AND THE BALANCE DONATED IN CASH. THAT ANY FUTURE PROPOSALS (PLATS) BE SENT BACK TO THE PARK BOARD FOR APPROVAL. MOTION CARRIED. MOTION BY SEWARD THAT REZONING NOT BE APPROVED. MOTION DIED FOR LACK OF A SECOND. Johnson said he would like to see the whole thing planned so that things cannot be changed later on. Johnson said the developers like to have as much freedom as they can. Seward stated-that an environmental impact study hasn't even been done. Anderson said he does not think he has to do that. Seward said he will have a water problem. He hasn't heard from the people in the Woodland Hills development - they get their water from Columbia Heights.
