April 6, 1988 Park Board Minutes 5 <br />MOTION BY VAN~HATTEN, SECONDED BY ROSE, TO HAVE HARSTAD <br />COMPANIES DEVELOP THE PLAN FOR THE PARK IN THE MIDDLE <br />OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND WORK. WITH THE PARK BOARD TO MAKE <br />IT A FUNCTIONAL NEIGHBORHOOD PARK. <br />Johnson suggested having the motion read that the park <br />be 6 acres. <br />Van Hatten said 6 acres may be excessive. <br />Johnson said how about up to 6 acres? <br />Phyllis Hanson asked .the Park Board if they would like- <br />to see. concept plans. <br />The Park Board responded positively. <br />Anderson told the Park Board how many acres the current <br />parks were. Meadow Wood is 3 1/2, Hidden Oaks is about <br />5, Freedom 9, Totem Pole 5, .Vermont 3. Excluding <br />Hansen Park, the parks are .generally 3-9 acres. <br />AMENDMENT TO THE MOTION BY JOHNSON, SECONDED BY KALINA, <br />TO HAVE UP TO 6 ACRES OF PARK LAND. <br />Kalina said she favors the amendment. because it says up <br />to 6 acres. It could be less. <br />Ken Johnson said he would like to see different concept <br />plans showing different sizes of park-area. <br />Seward said that Van Hatten's motion did not exclude <br />the park from being 6 acres, <br />Phyllis Hanson. said there are a lot of dangling issues. <br />The acreage is hard to tie down. <br />AMENDMENT CARRIED. <br />MAIN MOTION CARRIED. <br />Carlson commented that perhaps residents in the <br />attendance may have comments. <br />Van Hatten said he did not have any objection to the <br />park dedication land being used as flood basin. It is <br />a good option, it works well. <br />John Johnson said drainage is required and having that <br />option is nice. <br />
