January 6, 1988 Park Board Minutes Page 12 <br />Simons said there is a spot by the beach that has been <br />cleared and will be signed for those who want to use the <br />beach. <br />Johnson asked if that should be brought up at the <br />hearing. <br />Anderson said the lifeguards are not going to be able to <br />monitor where the people go once they beach their boat. <br />Simons said maybe there will be an area for them to <br />picnic in the future. <br />Schilling said it is important to get the posts out of <br />the narrows. <br />Simons said it should have been taken care of by the <br />county. <br />Anderson said he had assurance from the Rice Creek <br />Watershed District that as part of their work they would <br />take them out but they never did. <br />Williams said if there is a delay in getting them out <br />they could be flagged. <br />Anderson said they get vandalized regularly. It is very <br />-labor intensive:to do","-but it can be done. <br />Carlson :asked if we could motion to have the county do <br />it. <br />Anderson said it couldn't hurt. <br />MOTION BY CARLSON, SECONDED BY KALINA, THAT A LETTER BE <br />SENT FROM THE CITY TO THE COUNTY REQUESTING THAT THE <br />POSTS IN THE CHANNEL BE REMOVED. <br />MOTION CARRIED. <br />Simons asked if the Park Board liked .the buoys to keep <br />boats out of the fishing area. <br />The Park Board responded favorably but perhaps fewer <br />buoys were needed. <br />Carlson stated he is really impressed with the excellent <br />job Simons has done. <br />
