RULES AND REGULATIONS <br /> POLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON, MINNESOTA <br /> Under provisions of Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 419 and amendments thereto,the Police Civil <br /> Service Commission of the City of New Brighton hereby adopts the following Rules and <br /> Regulations for the New Brighton Police Department, which shall be effective on and after <br /> March 8, 1995. All previous Police Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations are hereby <br /> revoked. <br /> Section 1. Definitions. <br /> a. The term"Commission" as used herein shall mean the Police Civil Service Commission <br /> of the City of New Brighton. <br /> b. The term"Director" shall mean the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of said City. The <br /> Director is not subject to and is exempt from the Rules and Regulations of the Police <br /> Civil Service Commission (MN Laws 1985, Chapter 99). <br /> c. The term "department" shall mean the police department of said City. <br /> d. The term"position" shall also mean"office" or"employment." <br /> The term "employee" shall include licensed officers, and non-licensed full-time <br /> employees. <br /> f. The term"Deputy Director" shall refer the management level position which reports to <br /> the Director and is second in command of the police department in the absence of the <br /> Director. The Deputy Director as identified by the City Manager is not subject to and is <br /> exempt from the Rules and Regulations of the Police Civil Service Commission (MN <br /> Laws 1985, Chapter 99). <br /> Section 2. Basic Requirements for Application, Entrance and Promotion., F <br /> A person seeking appointment or promotion in the police department shall meet the minimum <br /> requirements prescribed by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training and <br /> the department. <br /> All applicants shall submit to testing in a manner prescribed by the Police Civil Service <br /> Commission. This will include but is not limited to the following: <br /> (a) File a written application on forms prescribed <br />
