MINUTES <br /> New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—October 12, 2004 <br /> 7:00 a.m. <br /> Members/Liaisons Present: Bob Benke, Dennis Flahave, Linda Harmon, Ken Johnson, John <br /> Kaufhold, Mark Nelson, Gary Stang, and Jim Witkowski. <br /> Members/Liaisons Absent: Mary Burg, Gene Delaune, Steve Larson, and a Pierson. <br /> Staff Present: Grant Fernelius and David Black. <br /> Call to Order <br /> Linda Harmon called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. ed <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> The minutes of the September 13, 2004 meeting were pr o pproval. The minutes were <br /> approved unanimously. <br /> Northwest Quadrant Report <br /> Corporate User. Black reported that Medtronic had not resp ded to the last proposal submitted <br /> by the City. The company indicated that is ends ill decide on one site sometime in November. <br /> The City is preparing for the redevelopment ' hout Medtronic, though we believe that the <br /> company is still considering this sit lgre ar low&Uban is preparing a proposal to <br /> update the 2002 concept plan. <br /> Acquisitions. Black report-• at City h submitted the abandonment petition for the <br /> portion of the rail spur o - si e of Old Highway 8. Discussions are continuing with the <br /> Postal Service; the pri r i issue cerns the amount of assistance the City should provide for <br /> tenant improvements. r <br /> On the we side,the latest pr• al to Kilkenny received no response; it may be necessary to <br /> consider e inent •cee• . The Midwest Asphalt case is proceeding, with a <br /> scheduling c t ffrence y terday. he judge will announce the date of the trial tomorrow; it is <br /> likely to be h: • in January. We are continuing to propose possible relocation sites to Midwest, <br /> but none have •.•e. seriously considered, to our knowledge. Kaufhold asked whether a site near <br /> I-35E and I-69A Little Canada had ever been mentioned; Black replied that it had not, but <br /> indicated he would research it. <br /> Black noted that the schedules the members had been receiving had been discontinued because <br /> of uncertain timing with regard to Midwest Asphalt and Medtronic. He expressed hope that we <br /> would gain enough information in the next several months to permit updating of the schedule. <br />
