TIF District. Staff is arranging for blight reports to be completed by SEH Engineering, in order <br /> to qualify the area for establishing a new TIF district. <br /> Business Council <br /> Black noted that nine businesspeople had attended the Business Council meeting on September <br /> 28th. While the attendance was less than at the previous meeting, those present seemed to <br /> appreciate the opportunity to discuss issues with City staff. The main issue raised by some of the <br /> businesses was the difficulty in recruiting new workers. Benke inquired whether there had been <br /> efforts by businesses to present career options to high-school-age students. owski <br /> mentioned a successful "Career Jam"held last year, involving 60-80 businessp- -. He didn't <br /> know whether it was held again this year, but indicated that he would report ba► _ -xt month's <br /> meeting. Operators of <br /> restaurants like Jake's are concerned that patrons will go to places not under the ban, like Joe <br /> DiMaggio's in Fridley(Anoka County). The Chamber is concerned that charitable gambling <br /> proceeds from Jake's will decline as a result. <br /> Adjournment <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 a.m. <br />
