MINUTES <br /> New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—December 14, 2004 <br /> 7:00 a.m. <br /> Members/Liaisons Present: Bob Benke, Mary Burg, Gene Delaune, Dennis Flahave, Linda <br /> Harmon, Ken Johnson(7:35 am), John Kaufhold, Steve Larson, Gary Stang(7:20 am), and Jim <br /> Witkowski. <br /> Members/Liaisons Absent: Mark Nelson and Maxine Pierson. <br /> Staff Present: Matt Fulton, Grant Fernelius, and David Black. <br /> Call to Order <br /> Linda Harmon called the meeting to order at 7:10 a.m. <br /> Chamber of Commerce Report <br /> Witkowski reported that the Twin Cities North Chamber is planning another Career Jam, to be <br /> held in March. High school juniors are invited to discuss career options in various fields. Last <br /> year over 600 students attended. <br /> Quarterly Business Council meetings will include businesses from Blaine and Shoreview, to <br /> increase networking opportunities. The Annual Gala will be held on February 26th at the <br /> Mermaid. Sponsorship opportunities remain, at various levels. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> With a quorum now present, the minutes of the November 9, 2004 meeting were presented for <br /> approval, and approved unanimously. <br /> Northwest Quadrant Report <br /> Corporate User. Fulton reported that Medtronic had not responded to the City's last offer, <br /> therefore it is assumed that the company is no longer interested in the site. Burg reported that the <br /> City of Mounds View had made no commitments to the company, and the Bridges Golf Course <br /> will be open in 2005. She also noted that the billboard contract with Clear Channel would have <br /> to be bought out at a substantial cost. <br /> Revised Plan. Black reported that staff will ask the Council to approve a contract with DSU to <br /> update the previous Northwest Quadrant plan. One of the key objectives will be to better <br /> integrate the two sides of Old Highway 8. <br /> Kaufhold questioned whether there had been any further discussions with Ramsey County about <br /> the boundary with Long Lake Park; Black indicated that there had not.
