Butcher's Spur Abandonment <br /> We are advised by our attorney that an application at this time for abandonment of the railroad <br /> spur on the east side of Old Highway 8 is likely to be unsuccessful. The federal Surface <br /> Transportation Board will consider whether any current or potential uses served by rail would be <br /> displaced by the abandonment action. The width of the right-of-way through that section allows <br /> for offloading and storage of materials such as the landscaping boulders currently there. <br /> We have to find a place for the boulders. Staff is meeting with consultants knowledgeable in rail <br /> issues to evaluate the potential of several locations in the City. <br /> Brighton Village <br /> A plan was submitted last week, showing 59,326 square feet o -tail, s; ice, . . ant <br /> space. There is no office space or other uses. No tenants h. e . o id- ed, e , or <br /> Snyder's. The Planning Commission will be considering site r .t its Ap .1 • meeting. <br /> Several EDC members voiced concerns that the fro e road ould no oving. The City <br /> will approach Kraus-Anderson to see if they woul be • to onsider oving the road. <br /> Kraus-Anderson is not asking for any public - sistance, which lts the City's powers to change <br /> the proposed plan. <br /> Gateway Area <br /> Applewood Pointe was approv y the Planni = -- sion and Council in March. Once <br /> financing is in place, developers e th construction will begin in July or August. <br /> The office building o Hubcap Wa use site has been submitted for consideration this <br /> month. <br /> 14 Other Business <br /> Johnso reported th. business, CMS, is looking for additional office space. The company <br /> has groe steadil en to eighteen percent per year and added a number of new <br /> employee . e nex i e years the company anticipates adding two hundred additional <br /> employees. - looking for an area where they can build a new office with the <br /> potential too 1s and i e future. <br /> Adjournment <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 8:52 a.m. <br />
