APPROVED
Planning
Black reported that staff had meet with traffic engineers Meyer Mohaddes to discuss the update
of the traffic study that was done in 2002. Despite the changes in the development plan, the
conclusions are still valid. Seven intersections are currently operating at unacceptable levels,
and the Northwest Quadrant will put pressure on three additional intersections. The study will be
finalized within several weeks, then staff will meet with County engineers to discuss upgrades.
Fernelius reported that the City has purchased Microsoft Project, which can provide timelines to
the commission and staff. Delaune wondered if it had an executive summary. Fernelius
responded that they are able to pull out information by major categories, but he did not believe
that it had an executive summary.
Brighton Village
Black reported that the approved site plan for Brighton Village is now dead. Kraus-Anderson
has approached the city with a new site plan that includes a grocery store. Demolition is slated
to start in November. Fernelius had encouraged Kraus-Anderson to work with Sinclair, but
indicated that the City will not be involved with those discussions. Flahave inquired if the bank
will be involved with the development. Black replied that the bank would like to construct a
new, smaller building in the new development and demolish its current building..
Other Business
The quarterly Business Council meeting will be held on October 25th. Kaufhold and Harmon
volunteered to help call the invitees. Fulton announced that the planned tour for the
commissions has been postponed; staff will let the commission know when it is rescheduled.
The next commission meeting will be held on Tuesday,November 15th. The date was changed
because City elections are scheduled for the regular date.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 8:39 a.m.
