Baker stated that if the bike path is taken off the road, the boulevard will
increase in size by 12 feet, and that the trail should be widened to accommodate walkers
and bicyclist. Horn replied that widening the path could be done. Howard stated that he
would like the trail to be clearly marked for what areas are for walkers and for bikes.
Wyffels inquired if the Commission could give their recommendation for the proposed
options. Howard replied that
if the bike paths are off road that the trails should be clearly marked for the areas for the
walkers and the bikers. Schiferl inquired if on Option 2 the path will be on both sides of
the street. Horn replied that while there will be a sidewalk on the east side is not intended
for trail use since it is more commercial and will have some amenities, potentially
outdoor dining. Horn added that the trail on the west side would be a two way trail for
bikes and walkers. O'Keefe stated that wider driving lanes encourage people to drive
faster, and it's his opinion that the bike path on the road will increase speed for the area.
Wyffels asked for guidance regarding parallel parking on the street.
