J IJ ? <br /> <br />VILlAGE OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />COUNTY OF RAMSKY <br />STATE OF MlNNESO'l'A <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCB ESTABLISHING AN AUXILIARY POLICE UNIT <br /> <br />The Villa~e Council of the Village of New Brighton does ordain: <br /> <br />Section 1. Purpose. Because of the existing and increasing <br /> <br />burden of duties upon the police Department of the Village of New Brighton, <br /> <br />and in order to insure that the public peaceJ health, and safety of the Village <br /> <br />is preserved there is hereby established an Auxiliary police Unit. <br /> <br />Section 2. Functions. The functions of the Auxiliary Police Unit <br /> <br />shall be coordinated to the maxl~um extent practicable with the New Brighton <br /> <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />Section 3. Direction. The Auxiliary Police unit shall be under <br /> <br />the direct supervision and control of the New Brighton Police Chief, said' <br /> <br />chief shall be responSible for the organization, administration and operation <br /> <br />of the Auxiliary Police Unit, subject to the direction and control of the <br /> <br />Villa~e Council. The police chief may designate members of the AU}l;ll1a.ry <br /> <br />Police Unit to serve as officers of said unit. <br /> <br />Section 4. Powers and duties of Chief. The New Brighton Police <br /> <br />Chief shall have the responSibility of coordinating the functions of the <br /> <br />Auxiliary Police Unit and the New Brighton Police Department. He may <br /> <br />institute such training programs and public information prograJIIS as he deems <br /> <br />necessary. He shall be in charge of organi:ting the Auxiliary Police Unit, <br /> <br />selecting its personnel, and ltshall be his duty to discharge any member <br /> <br />of the Auxiliary Police Unit for proper cause. Any member of the Amxiliary <br /> <br />Police Unit that is discharged must surrender any equipment and identification <br /> <br />furnished by the Village to the Chief of Police, and it shall be the <br /> <br />responsibility of the Chief of Police to maintain an inventory of all equipment <br /> <br />issued to the Auxiliary Police Unit. <br /> <br />Section 5. General provisions for Auxiliary police Unit Members. <br /> <br />Subdi vision l. All members of the Auxiliary Police Un! t must be <br /> <br />members of the New Brighton Civil Defense force. <br /> <br />Subdi'vlsion2. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit are in no way <br /> <br />covered by the provisions of the pOlice Civil Service CommisSion. <br />
