ORDINANCE NO. <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE FOR <br /> INSTITUTIONAL USES; <br /> AMENDING CITY ZONING CODE SECTION 9-040. <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON ORDAINS that the New <br /> Brighton Code of Ordinances is amended by amending City Zoning Code Section 9-040 <br /> as follows: <br /> Sec. 9-040. General Provisions Applicable to All Districts. <br /> (2) The following signs are excluded from the requirements of this Chapter: <br /> G. Official traffic signs and signals:, except those permitted in Section 9- <br /> 040 (6). <br /> (6) Directional signage for institutional uses shall be permitted by issuance of a sign <br /> permit subject to Section 9-040 (5) and the following conditions: <br /> A. Written permission shall be granted by the underlying property owner. <br /> In instances where the sign is proposed within dedicated right-of-way <br /> the underlying property owner shall include both the adjacent <br /> landowner and the City/County/State,whichever is applicable. <br /> B. Placement of such signs will only be permitted when the adjoining <br /> right-of-way is classified as collector or higher, as noted within the <br /> New Brighton Comprehensive Plan. <br /> C. Such signs shall be limited to two (2) within City limits per <br /> institutional use. <br /> D. Such signs shall be limited to three (3) square feet in area or less and <br /> four(4) feet in height. <br /> E. Such signs shall be setback a minimum of seven(7) feet from the <br /> paved portion of the traveled roadway. <br /> F. The City Engineer shall review and approve the design, size, and <br /> placement of all signs regulated under this Section. <br /> For the purposes of this section institutional use shall include the following <br /> governmental or non-profit uses: churches,hospitals, government uses, <br /> primary and secondary public or private schools, and public libraries. <br /> [Strikethrough indicates deleted language, Underline indicates new language] <br /> Adopted this 25th day of April, 2006. <br />
