• <br /> <br />SPEED COUNTS <br />The speed count trailer was set up at the 600 block of McCallum Drive, south of Riviera Drive, <br />on June 21 and June 22, 2006. The trailer was also set at the 500 block of Riviera Dative, east of <br />McCallum Drive, on July 20, 2006. The avearage speeds for these areas are as follows: <br />Location <br />McCallum Drive: <br />Riviera Drive: <br />South of Riviera Dr. <br />East of McCallum Dr. <br />Average Speed <br />23 mph <br />19 mph <br />85th Perrcentile <br />28 mph <br />23 mph <br />These speeds are consistent with speeds found in other residential areas. The lowest recorded <br />speed was 11 mph with the highest at 41mph. The 85th Percentile is used as the design speed far <br />the purposed of this study. This is the speed at which 85 percent of all traffic speeds were equal <br />to or lower than. The traffic and associated speeds in this neighborhood would be considered <br />localized. The speed count information sheets are attached to this report. <br />POLICE REPORT <br />There are no reported crashes at this intersection. <br />ANALYSIS <br />According to the State Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), stop signs are <br />warranted under the following conditions: <br />Multiway (Four-way) Stop Signs <br />A. Where traffic control signals are justified. <br />B. A crash problem, indicated by 5 or more reported crashes in a 12-month period that <br />are susceptible to correction by amulti-way stop installation. <br />C. Minimum Volumes: <br />1. The vehicular volume entering the intersection from the major street approaches <br />(total of both approaches) averages at least 300 vehicles per hour for any $ hours <br />of an average day, and <br />2. The vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle volume entering the intersection from the <br />minor approaches (total of both approaches) averages at least 200 units per hour <br />for the same 8 hours, but <br />3. if the 8Sth-percentile approach speed of the major street exceeds 40 mph, the <br />minimum vehicular volume warrants are 'ZO percent of the above values. <br />None of the above criteria is met for Multiway Stop Signs. <br /> <br />
