The applicants feel that the use should be a permitted use within the
I-1, Light Industrial Zoning District. The subject property is located at 600 Lakeview Point.

Baker stated that, considering the permitted uses in the I-1 and I-2 District, there is no question that the
proposed use would be an I-2 use. Therefore, Baker said he would not support the appeal. Schopf stated staff
has done a good job of interpreting the Zoning Ordinance. The applicant does not have reasonable grounds
for this appeal.

Baker asked if the applicant wished to speak. Chris Barnes, an attorney representing Crosson Limited
Partnership, the contract purchaser, said the president of Kolstad Company Inc., the user, was also present.
Barnes said the applicant wanted to be sure it had adequately communicated the proposed use, especially
pertaining to fabrication. Barnes said his client’s tenant did not assemble boxes. The boxes are already
manufactured when they come to the site. The tenant then modifies them. The description, “fabrication,”
probably is inadequate and incomplete. The boxes are manufactured before they come to the site. Barnes said

I:\COMMISSIONS\PLANNING\MINUTES\1999\02-16-99.WPD
