General Business LP-339 Nutec Construction Company Teague briefly reviewed the Planning Report concerning a request for site plan review for a redevelopment of Ken’s Market and Higher Grounds, and a development of a new office building. Zisla asked if the applicant had spoken with the property owner to the west of the proposed project since the last time this item was before the Commission. Rod Bernu, the applicant, stated he talked with Kevin Locke and he understands the City made an effort to talk to that party. Bernu said he has contacted this party several times and have not made any headway with them to acquire the property. Bernu said he had abandoned the idea. Schiferl said he recalled there was opposition from the neighbor on the pond on the north side of the proposed development. What does the neighboring property owner think now? Bernu answered that person has since sold her property. Bernu said that his new application no longer has a pond adjacent to that property, and additionally trees will be planted to provide additional screen of this property. Livingston asked if this project were approved when would the developer start construction. Bernu responded June 1.
