<br />PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting July 15, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br />Commissioners Jim O’Brien, Norm Schiferl, Tom O’Keefe,and Paul Zisla <br /> <br /> <br />Absent: <br />Commissioners Larry Baker, Karen Mann and Jeff Schopf <br /> <br />Also Present: <br />Patrick Boylan, City Planner , Anne Hoffman, City Council Member <br /> <br /> <br />? <br /> Minute Approval - <br /> June 17, 2003 <br /> <br />? <br /> Agenda Review – <br />Addition of discussion on Mpls. water works <br />site screening. <br /> <br />? <br /> Council Action - <br /> Anne Hoffman, City Council Member, <br />reported the City Services Task Force presented its findings <br />in June. The work that went into this is very much appreciated. <br /> <br />There is good news in that Ron Sweeley is home and regaining <br /> strength. <br /> <br /> <br />Public Hearing: SP 03-06 Special Use Permit for Electronic Readerboard Sign <br />within a new wall sign for Atonement Lutheran Church at 1980 Silver Lake Road. <br />Consideration of an application for a special use permit to construct an electronic <br />readerboard sign within a new wall sign for Atonement Lutheran Church at 1980 Silver <br />Lake Road. <br /> <br />The proposed sign is to be mounted on the east wall and be approximately 12 feet wide <br />and 7 & ½ feet tall. The electronic readerboard portion is proposed to be 2 feet high and <br />9 feet, 3 inches long (18.5 sq. ft.). <br /> <br />Mr. Boylan reviewed the background information for the Planning Commission. <br />Representatives for the Church were in attendance and available but did not speak to the <br />issue. <br /> <br />Atonement Lutheran Church is in a residential zone, but is located at the southwest <br />corner of the Silver Lake Road and Rice Creek Road; there are commercial uses to the <br />north and immediate south of the site. <br /> <br />CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br />Motion by Schiferl, second by O’Keefe to <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />I:\COMMISSIONS\PLANNING\Minutes\2005\2003\07-15-03.doc <br /> <br />
