Page 7 — May 8, 2007 New Brighton Council Minutes <br />Mayor requested Andy Lawonn, Boy Scout troop #106 introduce himself. <br />He attended the council meeting as part of earning a citizenship merit badge. <br />*Mayor Larson gratefully acknowledged Leone Rose from the Kitchen Kut up band <br />for their donation. <br />7. Authorization for Public Safety to Submit DHS Grant Application <br />Report No. 07 -101. (moved from consent agenda.) <br />Bob Jacobson, Director of Public Safety explained the grant is designed to provide <br />assistance in the cost to replace the 1955 fire vehicle. The vehicle is currently used <br />primarily for grass fires. Currently there are funds in the vehicle replacement fund, <br />however the cost of a new vehicle would exceed the budgeted amount. <br />Motion by Councilmember Bauman, seconded by Councilmember Burg to authorize <br />staff to pursue a grant application for 2007 United Stated Department of Homeland <br />Security DHS Assistance to Firefighters Grant AFG program. <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Municipal Advisory Commission Reports: <br />Dean Lotter -City Manager <br />Mr. Lotter expressed gratitude to Councilmembers for teambuilding retreat wrap -up session. <br />The MCMA conference will be attended May 10'' and 11 `h. <br />Councilmember Mary Bure -- Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Commission <br />Councilmember Burg attended the Parks, Recreation and Environmental commission <br />meeting, it was reported that the Disc Golf course is going very well. Also reported was the <br />success of Brightwood Hills, golf play was increased by 19 %. <br />Councilmember Ann Hoffman - Economic Development Commission <br />Councilmember Hoffman attended the Economic Development Commission meeting. AN <br />group has been successfully negotiated. Timbercraft Enterprises are finalizing agreements <br />for the former Marv's transmission site. The business council met, and will next meet in <br />July. <br />Councilmember Sharon Doffing - Planning Commission <br />Councilmember Doffing reported she missed a few meetings due to recent illness. The <br />Public Safety Volunteer Appreciation dinner was attended. It was reported that over 160 <br />volunteers serve in New Brighton. Residents were encouraged to attend National Night Out <br />block parties, August 7`t'. Volunteer of the year was awarded to Bob Parrot. <br />Councilmember Doffing spent time visiting the Disc Golf course. <br />Councilmember Gina Bauman - Public Safety Commission <br />7.
