And to call upon local <br /> residents to Get a Plan, Get a Kit, and Get Involved to help save lives in our Community. <br /> <br /> Legislative History: <br /> <br /> N/A <br /> <br /> Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> None <br /> <br /> Explanation: <br /> <br /> The American Red Cross conducted a survey in 2006 which indicated that the majority of <br /> Americans have not taken the basic steps needed to prepare for a disaster or an emergency <br /> situation. In response, the American Red Cross launched the GET READY! Campaign to assist <br /> communities with information and training for citizens to become better prepared for disasters <br /> and emergency situations. This proclamation and campaign will provide a continuing <br /> partnership between the Twin Cities Area Red Cross and the City of New Brighton to provide <br /> free community presentations, access to the Safety Mobile which offers presentations for K thru <br /> 5t" grade students, presentations on health issues, and multicultural outreach programs. <br /> The City of New Brighton and its Citizens have been very proactive in training and education to <br /> help prepare for disasters and emergencies. This partnership with the Twin Cities Area Red <br /> Cross can provide enhanced opportunities for our Citizens. <br /> <br /> Costs and funding: <br /> <br /> Training, wit e eption of CPR, is free of charge, we need only provide space. <br /> <br /> <br /> Robert J.
