In addition to the new
railroad wye, a parcel would also be created as a functional replacement to the Butcher's Spur located
within the Northwest Quadrant. These two projects will allow abandonment of the Butcher's Spur to
progress.
The action before the Council is to approve the subdivision of several parcels. Parcel 4 of the attached
drawing will be held by the current property owner of 400 1St Street SW (Estes Express). Parcel 3 will
be held by the City and will house the new railroad wye. Parcel 2 will be sold to the railroad (MT
Properties) and provide the functional replacement for the boulder user currently operating out of the
Butcher's Spur. Lastly, Parcel 1 will be held by the City with Estes Express having easement rights for
drainage purposes. Therefore, this Minor Subdivision will create 3 additional parcels for use as just
mentioned.
Unfortunately, the legal descriptions creating the 3 additional parcels were not available as of the
drafting of this memo. As such, a Resolution approving the Minor Subdivision is not attached to this
memo. However, the legal descriptions will be available prior to the meeting. Therefore, the Council
will be distributed an Approval Resolution prior to the start of the meeting.
Costs and Funding: The City will be utilizing a $1,000,000 grant for the railroad wye portion of the
proj ect.
AwL - 6UJ-WffV(-
Janice Gundlach
• City Planner
