R We the undersigned, petition the City Council of New Brighton, ` Minnesota, to reject the proposed roadway designated Tenth Avenue N.W., between Eighth Street N.W. and Tenth Street N.W. The proposed Tenth Avenue roadway will not benefit the residents living in the adjoining area, but will, in effect, cause addi- tional motor vehicle traffic and noise in the immediate vicinity. We feel the proposed roadway will be excessively expensive for the residents and tax payers of New Brighton because of unsuitable soil in which it is plotted. We believe it to be morally wrong that residents be required to sell part of their property or pay in excess of $19,600 in assess- ments and interest over a period of twenty years to retain their present holdings, especially since none of the residents requested, expressed a need jor would benefit from this road. We propose the following alternatives: 1. Abandon the proposed Tenth Avenue N.W. and require residents on Tenth Street N.W. West of Eleventh Avenue N.W., Tenth Avenue N.W. North of Seventh Street N.W. and Eleventh Avenue N.W. North of Seventh Street N.W. to exit the area by use of the county road designated Seventh Street N.W. If in the future a need is proven, we propose Alternative #2. 2. Abandon the proposed Tenth Avenue N.W. and extend Eighth Street N.W. to approximately Ninth Avenue N.W., thereby, turning North to Tenth Street N.W., not providing access to Ninth Avenue North of Seventh Street. 3. Abandon the proposed Tenth Avenue N.W. and extend Eighth Street N.W. through to Eighth Avenue N.W. This was the original proposal by previous City Council members many years ago.
